Tencent Games has announced PUBG Mobile Lite version of its battle royale shooter in the Philippines. PUBG is company’s most popular battle royale game across the globe. The LITE version is based on Unreal Engine 4, and it’s optimized for devices with low RAM.
PUBG Mobile Lite, reduces the number of players per map to 40, instead of 100. It also has much smaller 2x2km maps optimised for phones with lower end hardware.
On the Google Play Store, PUBG Lite’s description reads, “PUBG MOBILE LITE is here! Built with Unreal Engine 4, this version of PUBG MOBILE is compatible with even more devices and optimized for devices with less RAM without compromising the gameplay experience that has attracted millions of fans around the world. PUBG MOBILE LITE features a smaller map made for 40 players, which means a faster-paced game that still keeps the traditional PUBG style of play!”
The beta access to the Lite version is currently limited to the Philippines and no information about the wide release. The game doesn’t seem to be working even if you wish to side-load the APK and the OBB files.
In order to make the game run, users will need to download the obb file and copy it to the Android obb folder. Since the game is only available in the Philippines, you will need to use a VPN and set the location as the Philippines to make the game run on your budget Android headset.
