Samsung has announced that in the first two weeks of availability, more people have pre-ordered the Galaxy Note 8 in the U.S. than any previous Note.
Samsung started taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 8 in the US on August 24, and the device is one of the company’s most expensive smartphones ever, costing as much as $930 for the base model with 64GB storage. During its first sale, the Galaxy Note 8 will be available in two colors of black and gold in India.
Samsung, however, tried to offset the price tag with some pre-order deals offering free gifts like a Gear 360, DeX dock, SDcard and wireless charger. Owners of the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 were also offered a steep discount if they traded in their current device for the Note 8 while carriers like T-Mobile also had their own set of offers to entice customers to sign up for a new device.
Commenting on the pre-order numbers, Samsung’s president and chief executive officer, Samsung Electronics North America, Tim Baxter said, “we’re thrilled to see the strong consumer response to the next level Note”. “Today’s consumers want to do bigger things in work and life, and Note helps make that possible. We built the Galaxy Note 8 for people who desire a device that lets them be productive and allows for self-expression,” he further added.
Galaxy Note 8 also sports “Infinity Display” with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The 6.3-inch screen is Super AMOLED with a resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels.
